Man, I am officially not fond of the Villanelle poetry form XD;. I've been slaving away for the past, umm... I dunno, it's been quite awhile since I've started my attempt ^^;. All I have to say after working so hard is... blarg. Blarg! at the results I came up with, and also my brain is now officially blarg'y after all that XD;. Oh well, I'm sticking it in my poetry portfolio for creative writing anyway! Bwahahaha ^_^.

THE MEETING

I was waiting in the water for you.
‘Where the ocean meets the sand,’ you promised.
So long I’ve waited, now my lips are blue.

When you said this, I knew exactly where
you meant. The place where we began this tryst.
I was waiting in the water for you.

Before the sun even set, I was there.
I sat on the sand, heady from ocean mist.
So long I’ve waited, now my lips are blue.

As the sun vanished, at the shore I’d stare.
As always, I was soothed as the waves hissed.
I was waiting in the water for you.

You would come. You called me. You wouldn’t dare
to wound my heart like this. I clenched my fist.
So long I’ve waited, now my lips are blue.

You never came. Will your heart rip and tear?
because now, in these ocean waves I twist.
I was waiting in the water for you.
So long. I’ve waited, now my lips are blue.

For anyone else who doesn't know what the heck a villanelle is (I didn't until today XD; ), you probably noticed that two lines repeated A LOT. They're supposed to-- I'm not just being stupid ^^;. Those two lines rhyme... and then some other lines rhyme... and yeah, my brain was about burst into flame while attempting to make the form correct XD;. I think I managed to do it, though. I know my poem's crap, shut up XD;;;. Here's the proper rhyme scheme, if anyone's interested:
